Scope and Contents Miniature coloured portraits of 36 Indian figures, painted on very thin sheets of flexible mica in Trichinopoly, southern India, in 1869. Trichinopoly was the British name for Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. Mica paintings were produced in standard sets for the colonial tourist market, and imitated paintings on glass which were popular in Europe. Panorama of Simla

Panorama of the sea prospect of Fort St. George

A panorama watercolour on paper, mounted on coarse linen, 31.57 x 152.4 cm. in size. Fort St. George was built on the shores of the Bay of Bengal at Madras by the East India Company in 1644. Notable places are identified, and there is a key at the foot of the picture. The panorama is undated, but probably originates from the mid-18th century.
